Quinten Adam Moore, 27 years old, passed away on January 29th, 2026 while serving his country aboard the USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). He was born in Beckley, West Virginia on December 18, 1998 to Kenneth and Roberta Moore. He was a graduate of Nicholas County High School (2017) and West Virginia University (2023). After graduating from West Virginia University with his bachelor’s in criminology, he began his military career in the United States Navy. He attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Naval Station Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. At the end of the 13 week course he was commissioned as a Naval Officer to the rank of Ensign on September 27, 2024. From there, Quinten received orders to the USS Bainbridge home ported out of Norfolk, VA. He attended additional training in Norfolk prior to deploying with the Bainbridge on June 24, 2025 to begin his journey as a Surface Warfare Officer. He remained deployed at the time of his passing.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Roy W. and Glenna Moore, grandfather, Arthur K. Meadows Jr., uncles Eric and Scott Moore, uncle, Bert Selman III, as well as his cousin Porschia Selman.
He is survived by his parents Kenneth and Roberta Moore, three siblings, Ashley (Brendan) Jones, Kenneth Jr. “KW” (Morgan) Moore, and Nathan (Erica) Moore. He is also survived by his grandmother Nancy C Meadows, nephews Jaxon, Mason, and Kade, his niece Adeline, aunts, uncle, and several cousins that Quinten would call his brothers.
There are no words to fully describe the incredible man that Quinten was. He was full of life and loved nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends. You could always count on Quinten to light up the room with his infectious smile and laugh. He knew no stranger and would frequently make new friends everywhere he went.
During his time away from work he could often be found back home enjoying local breweries with friends, lounging in the jacuzzi with his mom, drink in hand and slot game on the phone, scouting the next deer or bear with his dad, sharing a laugh with his siblings, or playfully tormenting his nephews and niece whom he loved dearly.
He was an avid hunter starting from the age of 9, and loved going hunting with his family. There was always a bet of who would get the first buck of the season. During the warmer months, he could often be found relaxing out on the lake or at the beach enjoying the sand and sun. We take comfort in knowing that Quinten was Christian in faith and Baptist at heart.
Quinten, everything about you brought so much life to our lives. Your life was a blessing, and your memory a treasure. We will love and miss you forever.
