Lena Mae Fazenbaker Windon
Lena Mae Fazenbaker Windon, 77, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on
January 31, 2017, in Maggie Valley, NC., after a fierce 4-year battle with her health.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3 at the White Funeral Home, 700 Broad Street,
Summersville, WV, from 6-8PM.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM at the Downtain Chapel Church, Nettie, West Virginia,
on Saturday, February 4, 2017, with Reverend Glen Pysell of Downtain Chapel Church and
Reverend Rob Robertson of Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Charlottesville, Virginia,
officiating, followed by a graveside service at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, West
Virginia. A reception will be held at Mt. Zion Church, 11312 Canvas Nettie Rd., Nettie, West
Virginia, immediately following. Funeral arrangements are being handled by White Funeral Home,
Summersville, West Virginia.
Lena was born in Westernport, Maryland, on July 22, 1939, to Violet and Paul Fazenbaker.
She graduated from Richwood High School, was certified as a financial planner from Old Dominion
University, Norfolk, Virginia. Lena was co-owner of Premier Events, an event production company
located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she pursued her talent in floral design creating
arrangements for weddings, military and corporate events and sewing costumes for themed
events. Lena enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, baking and fishing. Her career
history included military wife, mother, dental assisting, retail buying control manager for Sears,
donut maker at Krispy Kreme in Norfolk, VA, and benefits director for HQ Warehouse stores, before
finding her passion in creating floral arrangements for special events.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry Richard Windon, CW04,
USN-Ret. She is survived by her daughter, Patty Windon Ritzi-Teed (Lional), her granddaughter,
Miranda Ritzi, and grandson, Travis Windon, and great-grandson, J.T. Windon; her seven
brothers and sisters, Paul Fazenbaker (Janie), Gary Fazenbaker (Sharon), Terry Fazenbaker
(Loretta), Jerry Fazenbaker (Jennifer), Joetta Meadows, Phyllis Groves and Vivian Grinder
(Luther), sister-in-law Kelly Windon Rouse of Richlands North Carolina, as well as 11 nieces and
nephews and her beloved Jack Russell, Lady Jacqueline Joy.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to Dr. Odeleyu & Becky of Princess Anne Family Practice
and Dr. Sean Hesselbacher, Veterans Hospital Hampton, VA, (formerly of Sentara Pulmonary &
Sleep Center) and Dr. Chino at Duke Cancer Center for your care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Compassionate Care Fund (Account
#875294) at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Virginia Tech.
