MARY R. SPENIA
Mary R. Coppa Spenia, 83, of Summersville, WV passed away
on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Charleston due to complications
from Alzheimer’s. Mary was born on August 7, 1933, a daughter
of the late Eligio “Tony” Coppa and Filomena Vitello Coppo.
Mary was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 61
years, Anthony Richard “Tony” Spenia, Sr., brothers, Sylvester,
Mario, and Joe.
Mary attended Holy Family Catholic School and graduated from
Richwood High School in 1951. Mary was employed by G. C.
Murphy Company until her retirement. Mary was a Catholic by
faith and attended Saint John’s Catholic Church of Summersville,
and was a long time member of the Ladies of Saint John’s.
Mary is survived by her four children, Tony Spenia, Jr. and wife,
Kristy of Summersville, Lisa Taylor and husband, Marty of
Deland, FL, John Spenia of Bumpass, VA, and Susan Spenia of
Mt. Lookout; six grandchildren, Barbara Shrewsbury, Chassidy
Wendell, Tony Spenia, Chris Taylor, Marissa Johnson, and
Rachel Spenia; eight great grandchildren, Adra Johnson, Michael
Shrewsbury, Kyndal Lockman, Carson, Reese, and Karoline
Taylor, and Bella and Thea Spenia; two brothers, Pete Coppa
and his wife, Sandy and Doc Coppa and his wife, Maggie, all of
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
May 16, 2017 in the Saint John’s Catholic Church in
Summersville with Father Xavier Cooney, SVD officiating.
Interment will follow in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery at
Shinnston under the direction of the White Funeral Home at
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.
m. where a Christian Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

WV 26651 or to the Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Kennawa
Drive Charleston, WV 25311.
