Eunice Kitchen, 100, of Summersville, WV passed
away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home.
Born March 24, 1917 at Summersville, WV she was a
daughter of the late Clarence and Etta Rader Walkup.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar
Stuart Kitchen on November 14, 2013.
She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist
Church in Summersville and was a beloved teacher in
Nicholas County with forty years of service.
After retirement from active positions she and her
husband organized and promoted Bluegrass and Gospel
Festivals on the property they owned. They promoted
two Bluegrass Festivals and one Gospel Festival for over
fourteen years. Since they were growing by leaps and
bounds they decided to cancel having three a year and
promoted one larger festival of Bluegrass and Gospel
combined. This festival continued on and culminated
with a total of twenty six years. She did much charitable
work helping children and people who needed help as
food, clothing, shelter or other needs.
She was a member of the National Education
Association, West Virginia Education Association, and
Nicholas County Education Association. She was a
member of the Community Action Senior Citizens of
Survivors include her foster son, Allen R. Whitt of
Danese; five nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on
Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the White Funeral Home
at Summersville with Pastor David Lancaster officiating.
Entombment will follow at the WV Memorial Gardens at
Calvin. Friends may call at the funeral home on the day
of the services one hour prior.
