                        ROBERT LEWIS WHARTON


      Robert Lewis Wharton, 87, of Summersville, WV
passed away on March 16, 2016 at The Bowers Hospice
House in Beckley, WV. He was born in Wheeling, WV on
September 18, 1928 to the late William and Virginia Davis
Wharton. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph
Wharton of Louisville, Kentucky.
      Bob is survived by his children Janice (Randy)
Meadows of Summersville, Robert Lee (Mary Ann) of
Columbus, Gary (Sara) of Summersville, and Alan (Amy) of
Columbus - grandchildren Bryan (Amanda) and Amy;
Megan; Allie (Michael) and Rachel; Rachael, Taylor, and
Natalie; and one great granddaughter Laken – brothers Ed
(Teny), Dick, Jim of Wheeling, and long-time companion
Sandy Shaver.
      Bob enjoyed golf, bowling, restoring antique cars, and
crossword puzzles. He was an avid reader, had a passion
for playing cards, and enjoyed time in his workshop garage.
Bob will be remembered for his 50+ years of dedication to
Crest Supply Co. as cofounder/president. Coupled with his
strong work ethic, he was respected for his tireless efforts
and strong convictions.
      Not to be forgotten, he was very civic-minded, being
involved with the following organizations: Cofounder
Summersville Youth Athletics, Cofounder Nicholas Memorial
Golf Association, Board of Trustees/Treasurer Muddlety
United Methodist Church, Nicholas County Board of
Education, Nicholas County Fair Board, Nicholas County
Memorial Park Board, MTA Board of Directors, instrumental
in building the NCHS stadium, Shriner with the Beni Kedem
Temple, 33rd degree/Summersville Masonic Lodge #76,
Central WV Airport Authority at Yeager Airport, Rotary Club,
Lion’s Club, instrumental in the construction of the local
branch of Glenville State College (now NRTCC), and was
an Army veteran of the Korean War.
    Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday,
March 19, 2016 in the White Funeral Home at Summersville
with Pastor John McKee officiating.  Interment will follow in
the East Lawn Cemetery at Canvas.
   Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1
to 3 p.m.
      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his
memory to the Muddlety United Methodist Church

Drive, Summersville, WV 26651.
      He will be missed and remembered forever.
