NANCY LEA THOMPSON
Nancy Lea Thompson, 66, of Craigsville, WV went to her
heavenly home on Monday, August 22, 2016. She
peacefully departed in her sleep while visiting her daughter’
s family in Plano, TX.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and
Freda Smalley Russell and her siblings, Ocie Bayless
Roach, Hubert Russell, Alene Roach, Robert Russell,
Richard Cox, and Willard Russell.
Nancy married her soul mate on March 2, 1968. Bub and
Nancy started their lives together with nothing but
unconditional love. With hard work they built a life and a
family together that was an inspiration for their children and
everyone who knew them. Although they were rarely
apart, when they were, they talked several times a day and
always ended with “I love you.” Nancy’s greatest joy was
her family and friends. She loved having get togethers,
especially her 4th of July celebration. She enjoyed
camping, traveling, and bargain shopping. She loved
taking her grandchildren out to eat, swimming with them at
the waterpark, and attending their school functions and
basketball games. Her grandchildren were her pride and
joy. Nancy always had a smile on her face and an
encouraging word for everyone. Her departure from this
world leaves a huge hole in many lives.
Nancy is survived by the love of her life, her husband of
48 years, Paul “Bub” Thompson, Jr.; her daughter, Lynda
(Ron) Gates of Plano, TX; her son, Paul “Bud” (Susan)
Thompson, III of Summersville; her daughter, Crystal
(Joseph) Spencer of Craigsville; and her grandchildren,
Brittany, Lance, Stephen and Josey Gates of Plano, TX;
Alexandria “Lexie” and Isabella Thompson of Summersville;
Bryar and Brayden Spencer of Craigsville; and her siblings,
William (Myra) Russell of Madison, OH, Daniel (Teresa)
Russell of Craigsville, John (Barbara) Russell of Madison,
OH and Kenith (Pam) Russell of Mt. Lookout; and her
nieces and nephews (who she loved like her own) too
numerous to list.
