Robert "Bob" Stephenson
                   ROBERT "BOB" STEPHENSON

   Robert “Bob” Stephenson, 81, of Summersville, WV died
Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Hubbard Hospice at
South Charleston.  Born June 22, 1935 at Zela, he was a
son of the late James C. and Nellie Fockler Stephenson.  
He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Mary
Evelyn Grose Stephenson,   by a stepson, Richard A.
Underwood, and by a grandson, Taylor Michael

   Bob attended a one room school from grades one
through six at Zela and a new school was built where he
attended the seventh and eighth grades.  Instead of going
to high school, Bob joined the United States Air Force on
September 8, 1952 at the age of seventeen.  He was in
Security and Law enforcement and served in New York,
Ohio, California, Tennessee, New Jersey, Delaware, New
Hampshire, Newfoundland, Germany, Korea, and Taiwan.

   He met Betty Marie Young in Newfoundland and from
this union was born, Robert L., Wanda June, Linda Ann,
and Calvin James.  He also has eight grandchildren, Brian,
Christin, Jessica, Jason, Robert M., Stephen, Taylor, and
James, two great grandsons, Zachery and Cameron, and
two great granddaughters, Catherine and Harper Marie.  He
moved back to WV in 1977 and met his grade school
sweetheart, Mary Evelyn Grose and married her on April 5,
1980.  Evelyn had a son, Arthur Underwood, Jr.

   After retirement from the Air Force, Bob worked at Better
Stop Texaco in Summersville and Lakeside Texaco at
Drennen.  He worked as a Security Guard for two mining
companies before his second retirement in 1999.  In
retirement Bob enjoyed flea marketing, yard sales, and
taking care of his Chihuahua’s, Buddy and Lucky.

   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the White Funeral Home at
Summersville with Pastor Aaron Evans   officiating.  
Interment will military rites will follow in the Walker Memorial
Park at Summersville.

   Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6
to 8 p.m.
